HackExeter

POSTPONED UNTIL NEXT YEAR

Grainger Auditorium Phelps Science Center Phillips Exeter Academy

COVID-19 Update

The lead organizers of HackExeter 2020 are sad to announce the cancellation of this year's hackathon, an upscaled effort to combat the encroaching Coronavirus epidemic. HackExeter has been running consecutively for many years now, making this situation even more sorrowful.

This decision has come out of an variety of nudges; the postponing of Phillips Exeter Academy's Spring Term to late mid-April, the advising of Hack Club, and authority recommendation of mitigating large gatherings. Although it was a hard decision, we recommend all other hackathons in the months of March through August follow suit and either postpone or cancel their events as well to stay safe.

We, the HackExeter organizing team are determined to make the most of the situation presented, and we are pooling the resources, designs, and prizes that would have went into this year's event for our 2021 event. We want to come out of this promising bluer skies in the future and wish every family the best in these trying times. Please do not hesitate to contact us (at [email protected]) if you have any questions

What's a hackathon?

A Hackathon is an exciting, creativity-inspiring, and fun event where computer programmers of all experience and skill levels can come together to write code. Hackathons involve friendly competition and collaboration (positive energy only!) to produce the best programs in a limited amount of time.

Hackathons are meant to foster innovative thinking and learning and to put smiles on coders’ faces. When you come to HackExeter, you can expect just that: with help from Exeter’s Computing Club, you’ll sharpen your hacking skills and make new friends as you put together your very own, fully-operational project.

Hackathons are also great places to meet other programmers. With so many participants, from the newest beginners to the most experienced hackers, you can see quite a wide range of ideas. The funnest of games, the coolest of gadgets, and more--Oh yeah, it’s all coming together at HackExeter!
